Pierre Usseglio: Barrel sample 2014-2015

The 2014’s of Thierry Usseglio are amongst the best I’ve tasted during this trip… they are a bit less powerful that normal vintage, but still very fruity , sappy and delicious!

The 2015’s barrel samples were out of this world!!! Thierry compares them to the 2005 vintage.

Very light nose of red berries… cerise rouge griotte, light and fresh, very well made! (88 points)

2014 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Côtes du Rhône
Light nose of ripe red berries, oriental spices, pain d’épices, roasted meat…. Taste is very sappy and super delicious, loads of sappy fruit, crisp ripe red cherries with nice refreshing acidity (90 points)

2015 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Barrel sample Cinsault: Nose of strawberries syrup, spices… Very animal, rustic tannins but very ripe! (94 points)

2015 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Syrah
Wow nose of chocolate, cocoa, incense, licorice, graphite… super super silky tannins, loads of black fruit, incredible salty finish. I just love it, bravo Thierry!!! (96 points)
