Colin Morey 2016

Pierre-Yves Colin Morey is now my 2nd favourite white Burgundy producer (After Coche Dury…)… So I was particularly happy to visit him and taste with him from barrel!!!

It was a very learnful experience to be able to compare all terroirs side by side: The wines that I particularly liked were:

  • The “En Remilly St-Aubin”… for me this is a mini Puligny!
  • I have a preference for Puligny compared to Meursault and Chassagne.
  • With the exception of the Chassagne En Caillerets, which is almost Grand Cru level!!
  • I have a preference for Batard (more masculine) compared to Chevalier (Feminine)
  • You can see the strenght of a winemaker to the quality of his Aligoté it was amazing!!!
  • 2014 is a great classic vintage, but 2015 could also be very interesting as it is richer and not that hot… in Chateauneuf, they compare it to 2005 vintage!
  • Thank you Pierre-Yves for taking the time!!
